Fields of Corn<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my all-time musicians is Pat Metheny. He hails from Missouri. I love his song (Cross The) Heartland<\/em><\/a>. For some reason, when I think of crossing the heartland, I think of endless fields of corn.<\/p>\n\n\n

The trip to St Louis went north through Kentucky and crossed into Indiana near Evansville. None of that was too attractive, and Evansville was another of many towns where the old infrastructure was being replaced in real time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This eventually led to Illinois when we crossed the Ohio River. We stayed right across the river at Grayville, which was surrounded by fields of Corn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campground was a bit unusual. It looked like it was trying to be a bigger deal than it was. But they had a great restaurant, and I treated myself to a Midwest hamburger from cows raised on all that corn. Delicious!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next morning we drove a bit north through beautiful farmland. Corn everywhere. A lot of dairy farms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
