I<\/a> was an aspiring drummer<\/a> \ud83e\udd41 in high school who became a nuclear engineer<\/a> \u269b who never worked a day as a nuclear engineer \ud83d\ude33. I am a child of the 60s \u262e but not quite old enough to have been a real hippy \u270c\ud83c\udffb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, a fascinating journey through life took me from testing airplanes \u2708\ufe0f to designing websites as \ud83d\udda5 I toiled away for 39 years in high tech. With stops at Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Autodesk, IBM, and some smaller tech companies and start-ups. Basically, I was a geek \u269b. Now, most of it seems like a story I once read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I landed where it started on the ‘spaced coast’ in Cocoa Beach. I moved back in 2014 when I was working remotely with my last gig with IBM. I had lived a lot of places but always felt I was just visiting. I retired at the end of 2018 and do not miss working at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I grew up in the almost surreal world of America’s space program. I saw my Dad launch the earliest uncrewed rockets up through the Space Shuttle \ud83d\ude80. He is my hero despite our sometimes tumultuous relationship. He was a Steely-Eyed Missleman<\/a>! <\/p>\n\n\n

I was married three times \ud83d\udc8d- five if you count the first marriage in the Catholic Church in my flip-flops (which I guess is still on the books) and number 2 whom I had the unfortunate pleasure of marrying twice \ud83d\ude35\u200d\ud83d\udcab! <\/p>\n\n\n

I learned DIY from my Dad and spun that into a minor in fine craftsmanship as a woodworker<\/a> \ud83e\ude9a. I have played the drums since junior high school and have amassed an extensive collection of drums \ud83e\udd41. I have loved contemporary music<\/a> since I started drumming<\/a> – especially anything different with a beat. I bought my first camera in college and love to capture my world in images<\/a>. I loved using technology to help me do all this. I realized later in life that creation is my true passion. (and I did this before it became a fad – imagine that \ud83d\ude0e) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I discovered reading in college and am an ardent fan of science fiction \ud83d\ude80 and fantasy \ud83d\udc09. Tolkien’s works, especially Lord of the Rings \ud83d\udc8d, are my all-time favorite, and I have read them countless times. I dig all sci-fi: Frank Herbert, Rodger Zelazny, Arther Clarke, Issac Asimov, Kim Stanley-Robinson, Neal Stephenson, John Varley, and James S. A. Corey, among others. Seeing all my favorite sci-fi and fantasy books turned into TV shows and movies is astounding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy smoking pot quite frequently, but I\u2019ve also given up drinking twice. I find great relaxation in soaking in the hot tub. I love traveling with my dog and capturing nature\u2019s beauty through photography. I\u2019m particularly drawn to being on a boat in the ocean or the nearby Indian River Lagoon. I also enjoy creating woodworking projects for personal enjoyment and as gifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have an RV, the Starship Excellent Adventure<\/a>, and traveled the western rim of the Rockies in 2021, the Appalachians in 2022, the Big Kahuna tour of the left coast in 2023, the Heartland tour of the midwest in 2024, the East Coast Tour to Cape Cod in 2025, and There and Back Again<\/a><\/em> in 2026 . We have logged over 46K miles and 10 months on the road in the past six years.<\/p>\n\n\n

The number 42 is also significant in some Eastern religions, such as Buddhism and Hinduism. Many believe a person reaches Nirvana or Moksha, the final goal of life, around age 42. Of course, there is no actual set age for this experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty-two is the ASCII<\/a> code for the symbol *, also known as the asterisk. This symbol is often thought to translate to anything or everything. In this instance, 42 = everything, the meaning of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have spent time understanding the nature of the universe, which was helped by my background in math and physics. I try to follow and understand science from what I consider legitimate sources. I try to keep an open mind but have come to agree with others like Steven Hawking: nothing supernatural is going on anywhere. What happens in Gray Matter is another matter (no pun intended), and I find it best always to be skeptical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
