Shoshone Canyon is a dramatic, steep-walled gorge located just west of Cody, Wyoming. Carved out by the action of the Shoshone River cutting through Rattlesnake Mountain, it serves as a prominent gateway for travelers driving toward the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
